Like so many music snobs, I was quick to dismiss Peter Frampton. He was too pretty, we thought. His songs are too corny, we said. But we missed out on something.

When Frampton got a bit older (and got his hair cut, I muttered), I came to realize what so many others already knew: Peter Frampton is one helluva guitar player!

The point was driven home when I saw him instrumentally cover one of my favorite tunes: Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.”
