A CirdecSongs Chat with Joe Deninzon

The first time I laid eyes and ears on JOE DENINZON and his band Stratospheerius, he and his electric violin were tearing up the stage at Progtoberfest in Chicago some six years ago. They were a progressive rock powerhouse. I wanted to talk to Joe back then, but the stars never quite aligned for us. But I was able to keep tabs on him via social media.

Fast forward to 2023, where Joe and his band have released a new album called Behind the Curtain, a collection of live performances from over the years at Progstock, a festival held in New Jersey. They still sound just as hot.

Joe has also managed to find himself a side gig with a little combo called Kansas. Okay … they’re more than a little combo. In fact, Kansas has been bringing their sound to LP and stage for 50 years now. This is Joe’s first tour with the band. I had the pleasure of seeing Kansas perform in Chicago. Joe sounded like he’d been there from Day One.

Progstock is upon us again, and Stratospheerius will be kicking off the proceedings. I look forward to hearing what they have to offer. Joe is also a very nice human being. The new gig has not even remotely gone to his head. It’s all about the passion for the music.

I’d like to thank Joe for taking a few minutes to chat with CirdecSongs.
