The only constant in life is change. Jessica Kion‘s life has undergone a seismic shift.
Most often known for her work as the bassist and co-vocalist in the avant-pop band Bent Knee, Kion decided to leave the band last year after she and her husband (and Bent Knee guitarist) Ben Levin decided that they’d had enough of the road, and wished to pursue other musical roles. There was no acrimony. Everyone in Bent Knee has nothing but undying love for one another. One musical chapter has ended, and another one has just begun.
When she wasn’t playing with Bent Knee, Kion created music via her band Justice Cow. Now that project has her undivided attention. Her latest work is some of the most personal music she’s created. It surrounds the passing of her father and the subsequent emotional fallout. The music is honest, earnest, and heartfelt.
Kion also keeps herself busy by playing shows in the northeast United States. Keep your eyes peeled for them. Every day presents new possibilities, and Kion is all in!
This is actually the second interview Kion and I have done for this channel. She remains as kindhearted and open as ever. Once again, I would like to thank Jessica Kion for allowing me to conduct second CirdecSongs Conversation.
